Inspired by his love for jazz, hip-hop and dance music, ‘Origins EP’ is Vancouver based trumpeter Phil Austrom’s debut solo release. ‘Origins’ brings together producer and guitarist mr. stee’s background in west coast hip-hop with Phil Austrom’s home-growth brand of Midwestern jazz. With the two main collaborators laying down licks of their own and a scrabbling of talented musicians hopping on intermittently, the result is a record that spans various genres, perspectives, and points of origin. 'Origins' is the third release of 2018 on EASTBLVD records, a label featuring mr. stee, Marleu, and Opaque.
